Berkay Özkan
We are proud to welcome pianist Berkay Özkan, who is based in Hungary and works as a
research assistant at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, to MİAM with a
narrated recital program featuring works by Schubert, Bartók, and Saygun.
Born in Ankara in 1990, Berkay Özkan completed his undergraduate piano studies at the
University of Debrecen and earned his master’s degree and virtuoso diploma at the Franz
Liszt Academy of Music. He later completed a second master’s degree in pedagogy,
receiving an Art Teacher diploma in piano and chamber music. A prizewinner at the Tadini
International Piano Competition (Italy) and the Pera Music Festival and Piano Competition
(Istanbul), Özkan became the first Turkish student to receive a Hungarian State
Scholarship for doctoral studies at the Franz Liszt Academy in 2021. He currently works
as a research assistant and répétiteur at the Franz Liszt Academy and the University of
Debrecen.
